If you’ve been thinking about diving into Remedy’s Alan Wake series, and you prefer your games of the digital flavor, you might want to act fast. He’s set to vanish from non-physical format soon.
Wake goes to sleep
Alan Wake was a fairly well received title, that originally appeared on the Xbox 360. The game followed a mentally-shattered writer, besieged with supernatural forces. There was a cabin in the woods, a missing love, and shadow monsters possessing normal folk. There was also a really cool mechanic where you had to shine your flashlight on baddies in order to hurt them. It was cool, and even spawned a pseudo sequel of sorts.
And now, it’s set to take its leave of online shops. For a while anyway.
Why? Well it seems that there’s a bit of an issue with licensing on some of the tunes in the game, and developer Remedy is being forced to yank the title. This won’t however, affect the second game I mentioned (American Nightmare), but Alan Wake (that’s the first game) will disappear. For their part, Remedy says that they’ll be looking to re-license the music that’s in question.
Thing is, they don’t know when that might happen. So if you want to get a copy of Wake digitally, now’s the time. Heck, it’s even on deep discount via Steam, so there’s really no excuse.
