The long-awaited sequel to aRPG Titan Quest is almost ready to hit Early Access, but it’s going to be a little later than anticipated.
Questing for launch
If you’ve been following along with the development of Grimlore Games and THQ Nordic’s Titan Quest II, then you probably have already guessed that its Early Access launch has been postponed. The release was meant for winter 2024/25 after all, and we’re currently in the spring by a decent margin. But not to worry, as things haven’t gone off track at all from what the press release has to say.
Publisher THQ Nordic is reportedly looking to give the game as much of a spotlight as possible, and that’s the reason for pushing it out of the former timeframe. Titan Quest II’s newly scheduled launch won’t be far off either, as fans can look for it to hit the PC this summer.
Here’s a look at gameplay, if you need a reminder:
Return to the classic mythology-inspired setting of Titan Quest and go toe-to-toe with legendary monsters as you journey across a fantastical reimagining of ancient Greece. Nemesis, Goddess of Retribution, is out of control. She is corrupting the Threads of Fate and condemning all those who oppose her to eternal punishment – including you. Take up your weapon, fight alongside gods, and change fate itself in order to stop Nemesis, free those she’s punished, and weave your own epic tale.
THQ Nordic press release
A development epic
Titan Quest II looks sharp in that gameplay dive, and it’s actually gotten some good word of mouth too. That comes by way of a demo that saw release a short time ago, one where THQ Nordic says player feedback was 92% “positive or very positive”. The publisher highlights too, that a subset of series fans “praised the game for capturing the spirit of the original while pushing forward with modernized systems.” So if you’re a fan of the original, that bodes pretty well, we’d think.
As for what’s been taking up the remainder of the newly available development time, that would be optimizations and improvements in key areas. “Combat fluidity, ability aiming, and balance” are all already being addressed, according to the press release, and work on “customizable control schemes and enhanced UI indicators” is happening as well. The only thing now, is that launch date.
And for that, basically, stay tuned. There’s no release date to report just yet for those looking to dive in (or dive back in) to the world of Titan Quest II, though it should be on the way to Early Access (on the PC) some time this summer.
