Ultra-limited, signed copies of Keanu Reeves and China Miéville’s The Book of Elsewhere at Forbidden Planet UK locales tomorrow

Celebrating its return to Bristol, Forbidden Planet will have a minuscule amount of signed copies of The Book of Elsewhere on hand.

The Return of Forbidden Planet Bristol Day!

For those who aren’t all that familiar, Forbidden Planet is one of the best-loved pop culture stores on the… well, on the planet. The shop has been a UK mainstay for decades, and has a long-lived branch here in the US (in NYC) as well. Not that we’re talking about the States today, as this news is all about the British Isles.

It’s there that the company is celebrating its grand return to Bristol, which will be joining its already-existing lineup of stores in Newcastle, Liverpool, Birmingham, London, Coventry, Cambridge, Croydon, and Southampton. The grand re-opening is tomorrow (December 7th, 2024) and Forbidden Planet is looking to celebrate the day in style.

To that end, each of the above shops will have a small amount of autographed copies of The Book of Elsewhere on hand and available for purchase. And as you can see from the headline, this is no run of the mill title, as it hails from writer China Miéville and none other than Hollywood and comics superstar Keanu Reeves.

The books were signed when Reeves and Miéville visited Forbidden Planet London not long ago. The creative team hung out with the staff and toured the store, but before they left, they autographed the books in question with an eye towards the impending opening of Forbidden Planet Bristol.

It’s a slick opportunity for sure, but be warned, as the shop makes a point of saying just how few of these there’ll be at each store. So if you want one, make sure you get there as early as possible and head right for the “main cash till”. There you’ll find each location’s stock, ready for purchase.

If you do miss out though, stay tuned. Forbidden Planet adds that an equally small amount of signed The Book of Elsewhere copies will be sold online (via ForbiddenPlanet.com) some time before the year is out.
