Retro FPS Wizordum pulls back the mists to reveal a launch date

There’s more to battle through in episode 3 of retro-styled shooter Wizordum, coming with the just-revealed full retail release.

Wands up

Out for some time in Steam Early Access on the PC is Wizordum, a retro first-person shooter from Apogee Entertainment and developer Emberheart Games. The title stood out pretty fast in what’s become a crowded field, since it sports a fantasy theme. That’s not something that you see much of anymore when it comes to FPS’, and if you’re a fan of the genre, well it makes Wizordum all that much more attractive.

The third episode to the game’s action has been finally revealed too, at the OTK Game Expo. Episode 3 will include both fire and ice levels, which come packed with “lava flows and chillingly deadly icicles”. Did we mention a mine cart ride as well, that allows players to “insta-splat” foes on contact? Yeah, that’s in there too.

Additionally, the new update will bring in some fresh weaponry, both of the magical and mechanical (sorta). The Faewood Crossbow can be used to blast enemies with magical bolts, while the Staff of Chaos can deal out “chaotic, untamed fire, ice and storm attacks that can’t be controlled”, according to Apogee. Sounds like fun.

“Every step of our journey with Wizordum has been massively fulfilling, and with the upcoming launch of 1.0, we can’t wait to welcome new mages to confront Chaos,” said Primož Vovk, developer at Emberheart Games. “With new locations, weapons, and the conclusion of the epic story, we’ve succeeded in creating a fitting ending to our homage to fantasy shooters of the past.”

Apogee press release

Along with the reveal of Wizordum’s Episode 3, Apogee Entertainment has also taken the wraps off of the full “1.0” launch fort the PC. That will bring the title up to a full retail edition, and is set for the magical date of March 5th, 2025.
