With writer and artist Jamal Campbell attached, DC is set to open up magical new mini-series starring Zatanna in February.
Magic and mystery
A mainstay in DC Comics since she was introduced in 1964, Zatanna Zatara is one of the superhero universe’s most powerful mages. Not only has she been a presence in every subsequent iteration of the DCU, she’s also been a prominent Justice League and JL Dark member. Even with all of that though, she hasn’t had a starring title in any format for years.
That, however, is a drought that comes to a close in 2025. DC Comics just revealed that much, as Zatanna will star in a six issue mini-series under the new “All In” initiative. The book will be helmed by Jamal Campbell, who’ll be handling both the writing and interior art chores. From the looks of the preview images that we received from the publisher, it’s going to be a sharp looking tale.
“Wonder, mystery, mischief, and fishnets make up the core of a quintessential Zatanna Zatara stage show, and it’s high time she returned to the spotlight,” said Campbell. “In her newest DC Comics series, Zatanna is dragged down a rabbit hole of cursed swords, hidden truths, and multiple brushes with death. She’ll need all her wits and every spell she can muster in order to make it out the other side in one piece.”
“It’s been a dream tackling Zatanna’s world, introducing brand-new allies and adversaries as well as bringing back some old classics that haven’t been seen in a while,” continued Campbell. “I’m weaving all my appreciation of the character into these pages in order to show and prove what makes Zatanna so magical.”

Showtime
In the new limited comic book series, Zatanna gets her stage crew back together and is looking forward to a new, less chaotic chapter of life. However, her plans are disrupted before they even begin when her crew is abducted by a ghostly new adversary, The Lady White. Now Zatanna is plunged into machinations of tricks, swords, and curses that threaten to tear her apart from the inside out!

While Campbell is doubling up on this title, he won’t be alone, and will be joined by letterer Ariana Maher. The interiors aren’t all for the superstar though, as Campbell will also be providing not one, but two cover illustrations, with the main and a variant. Speaking of variants, there’s set to be a host of cover artists onboard, who’ll produce a slew of those.
