Upcoming from Image Comics, Knights vs Samurai will be getting a special limited edition variant from Todd McFarlane.

When you first hear the title Knights vs Samurai, it might be easy to write it off as some kind of ‘fighting game’ matchup between the two legendary forces. But that’s not what the book, created by actor and writer David Dastmalchian, will be at all. Well, maybe it will be a little, but it sounds like there’s a heck of a lot more to it.
Knights vs Samurai mixes actual history with fantasy elements, for a tale that sets crusading (kind of) knights against a mysterious force that attacked a group of English missionaries. As mentioned though, there’s some fantasy to this story, and from what we’ve seen it includes sea monsters and even a giant.
Knights vs. Samurai follows the journey of Sir Charles Ward (known as ‘The Dragon Butcher’), who is a knight grappling with self-doubt and grief while leading a legion of royal warriors on a noble mission. Celebrated for his knighthood and leadership, The Dragon Butcher embarks on a quest to a mysterious island in the Far East. Accompanied by a diverse group of fighters—including a giant and two clerics—he seeks vengeance against the savage monsters responsible for ambushing a group of English missionaries. However, upon arrival, Sir Charles discovers a startling truth—the so-called “savage monsters” are a regiment of highly skilled warriors unlike any he has ever encountered.

Like most big titles these days, Knights vs Samurai will indeed have a variant cover for genre fans to grab. It seems as though a variant of the variant (yup) will pretty tough to come by too, and is being brought to readers by way of not just Image, but Todd McFarlane Productions.
While there looks to be a more mass market version of the cover as well, the big story is that the limited version will have an availability ratio of 1:50. An “incentive copy”, this special edition will sport the art and autograph of comics legend Todd McFarlane.
