RPG Maker WITH revealed, brings old school JRPG creation to consoles this fall

The classic series returns, looking to get creators online this time, as NIS looks to drop RPG Maker WITH this fall.

WITH what though?

The answer to the above question is pretty simple actually, it’s RPG Maker “WITH” friends. The latest revision of the long-running ‘make your own’ game will have a focus on sharing, in the way that it’ll allow fans to post their creations (and download others’) online.

Speaking of “creations”, RPG Maker WITH will stock reported “oodles” of assets, to get would-be creators rolling, as they assemble simple or complex adventures. Don’t like what NIS has loaded into the title? Well, you can just craft your own then. NIS doesn’t get into exactly how that’ll work, but it certainly sounds as though you’re going to be able to make a pretty custom quest.

As the latest installment in the RPG Maker series, RPG MAKER WITH features more tools and greater accessibility than ever before. The user-friendly interface and intuitive controls make it easy to choose between creating simple or complex assets and functions, so you can dive right in, regardless of skill level. Not sure what to make? Head online to play other creators’ games and get inspired, then inspire others by sharing your own. And, for the first time ever in a console RPG Maker title, you can even share your assets and unfinished projects!

NIS press release

Time to study up, and start writing out some ideas, as RPG Maker WITH lands on the Switch and for PlayStation platforms some time this fall.

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
