From Focus Entertainment and developer DON’T NOD, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden remains one of the most interesting fall game releases. It’s a supernatural aRPG that looks to be as much about love and bridge that the bond between humans can create between life and death, as it is about banishing spirits to the nether realm.

The banishing part is where the title actually comes from, by the way. Called Banishers, main characters Red and Antea have chosen a life path that takes them across what’s an alternate-reality America, their task being to send ghosts and revenants packing to the afterlife. The twist comes in, and this isn’t a spoiler, when Antea is killed and becomes a haunter herself.

So what’s Red to do then? If you picked ‘harvest souls to try and save her’, well that looks to be one of the options that he’ll have open to him. Check out a glimpse of that little mechanic, plus almost 7 minutes of gameplay in the newly released video below.

You play as a pair of Banishers, Antea Duarte and Red Mac Raith, experienced spirit hunters sent to New Eden to lift a mysterious curse and solve haunting cases. But after an ill-advised attack, Antea is killed and becomes one of the ghosts she loathes. Torn between their vows to protect the living from malicious spirits and the nightmare of Antea’s condition, you must decide: will you honor your oath, or sacrifice the living in a desperate bid to bring your beloved back?

Enter the lives of New Eden’s communities in a world plagued with supernatural creatures and ancient secrets. Combine Antea’s spiritual abilities and Red’s powerful arsenal to banish the souls that torment the living. Uncover secrets, navigate mysterious landscapes, upgrade your gear, and meet memorable characters whose outcomes rest in your hands.

Heavy choices lie on your path as you decide the fate of New Eden’s inhabitants—be they living people or wandering souls—dramatically impacting your story and the challenges you’ll face.

Which will you choose

Aside from the above, remember that Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is also set to arrive on shelves with a pair of editions. There’s the base version of course, but also the mighty Red Echoes Edition and the loaded Collector’s Edition. If you’re looking for the ultimate Banishers experience, either sound like a pretty neat choice.

The Red Echoes Edition comes packed with a replica of “an ancient, leather-effect notebook illustrated with Red’s memories, an ink writing set, the game on any platform, and the “Wanderer Set” DLC”. That’s a hefty dose of content, and depending on if you prefer replicas or statuary, it’s more or less an equal to the Collector’s Edition.

That’s loaded too however, and as mentioned, with an almost completely different set of goodies. Here’s what’s included in the CE:
