Rearrange the furniture with Trine 5’s resident wizard

Magic doesn’t have to have an over the top, world-altering effect you know. Take Trine 5’s Amadeus the Wizard, for example.

Boxy Boy

Supporting up to four players in co-op action, Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is shaping up to be a fantasy adventure worth watching. The latest game in what’s now a pretty long-running series from THQ Nordic and Finnish developer Frozenbyte, Trine 5 features multiple playable characters, all of whom will come in very handy indeed in specific situations.

In the case of Amadeus, a wizard, that could be moving obstructions or creating new paths through the game’s levels. Or it could also be tossing foes into open flames or off cliffs. He’s handy like that.

With great responsibility comes great power? Well, almost – Amadeus, who is not only a dedicated husband and father of triplets but also a master of arcane arts, takes center stage in Trine 5‘s latest trailer. With an array of awe-inspiring spells, Amadeus proves to be not just a great solo-adventurer but also an invaluable asset to his companions in co-op mode with up to 4 players (yes, 4!) as he summons boxes and deftly maneuvers obstacles to clear the path.

THQ Nordic press release

Trine 5 will feature a 2.5D world and a “dynamic physics” system that will task players with finding their way around hazards in the form of “fire, air, light, magnets, electricity and more”. Additionally, the title will feature support for multiple play styles, with the idea that you’ll be able to play how you like, whether that’s a quest that’s more puzzle-based, or action-oriented.

Coming up fast, Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy is inbound for Xbox and PlayStation platforms, the Switch, and the PC next week, on August 31st, 2023.
