DC unveils Knight Terrors with FCBD lead-in, set of event mini-series’ this summer

DC Comics’ Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman will be starring with Deadman in a horror-tinged whodunit this summer, dubbed Knight Terrors.

Into that bad Knight

DC is ready to talk summertime events, and the next chapter in the so-called “Dawn of DC” timeline. That would be Knight Terrors, a mini-series that will bring the Trinity face-to-face with Deadman for a trip through the afterlife.

The new tale will begin with a dead body in the Hall of Justice, and take the quartet through the realms of death on a quest to once again save the world.

Kicking off this July, Knight Terrors is a miniseries in which Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman find the body of one of their earliest enemies at the Hall of Justice. Their investigation takes them past the land of the living, beyond the land of the dead, into a realm of nightmares. The only way to save the world is to call for the help of an unlikely hero, Deadman.

“I love horror comics, and it’s been a blast bringing the energy to Dawn of DC. Knight Terrors showcases the horror side of our heroes as a brand-new villain confronts them with their worst nightmares,” said Joshua Williamson. “It’s a fun and horrific event that brings together all of the heroes and villains of DC, along with some surprises!”

Mini-major

As you might gather, Knight Terrors isn’t your typical superhero romp, but will be a “horror-focused event”. It won’t be limited to the above books either, as DC says that the event will “take over” the publishing line this July and August. Though even with that statement, it sounds like Knight Terrors will be a different kind of ‘crossover’ event.

According to the publisher, DC’s Superheroes and Super-Villains will star in a series of two issue mini-series’. Each of those characters will be “confronting their worst nightmares” in something called the Nightmare Realm. But lest you think that everything will be a dream, think again, as “whatever happens to them in the Nightmare Realm will also be reflected in the Waking World”.

And don’t forget the freebie

Dawn of DC Knight Terrors Free Comic Book Day Special Edition cover by Jason Fabok

While all of the above will be launching in June, hitting its stride in July, and closing in August, there will be a prelude. And that will come by way of a Free Comic Book Day special edition.

Fans should be on the lookout for the Dawn of DC Knight Terrors Free Comic Book Day Special Edition this FCBD. The book will see Knight Terrors begin with the dreams of none other than Robin himself, Damien Wayne.

Legendary comics artist Chris Bachalo (Doctor StrangeDeadpool) is returning to DC for the first time in over 20 years and teaming up with Williamson and Porter to help give fans an early look at Knight Terrors on Free Comic Book Day, May 6, with the Dawn of DC Knight Terrors Free Comic Book Day Special Edition. After a long night of crime-fighting with his father, Batman, Damian Wayne sleeps. But horrors invade his teenage dreams. Damian has seen a lot, but there is something different about this nightmare.
