The long-awaited and hotly anticipated Ghostbusters 3 finally has an official title with Ghostbusters: Afterlife, as well as a teaser poster.
Busting again
It’s been a long time since fans had a true Ghostbusters sequel to be excited about, but director Jason Reitman’s latest is exactly that. Moving back over to the main timeline for the series, this new film returns most of the original cast to the fold, though almost everything else is a mystery.
Today’s poster though, does add in some food for thought. From the teaser trailer we saw previously, we already know that the Ghostbusters ride ECTO-1 is in mothballs somewhere out in the country (from the looks of it anyway).
This one-sheet seems to confirm that, with a filthy version of the car peeling out into a field of wheat. As for what it’s heading for, it looks like some kind of portal shimmering in the sky. There’s an energy source too that might be generating it, blasting out from the ground.
On top of that, there’s the official subtitle. “Afterlife” has been rumored for a few weeks now, and it appears as though it is the title of the film, which doesn’t have a ‘3’ attached to it anywhere. That’s a little strange, though this is Ghostbusters 3, for all intents and purposes.
Afterlife though, does beg the question as to the overall plot. Could the ‘busters be heading to the other side for this one? We’ll find out relatively soon, as the film is set to open up in theaters July the 10th, 2020.
