Sega and Dotemu’s Streets of Rage 4 is coming up and looking great. Today we got a character reveal, as well as a new trailer showing lots of new stuff.
Raging out
It’s tough not to get pumped over Streets of Rage 4. Developer Dotemu’s rebirth of the classic side-scrolling combat series is a direct sequel to the originals from the Sega Genesis.
The game is showing at the GamesCom convention right now, and is looking sharp. The new trailer shows off times of day, as well as locations including “neon lighted urban rooftops, elevator, seedy airport hangars, dirty sewers”.
But that’s all taking a backseat to Cherry, the newest addition to the playable roster. The third of four playables, Cherry Hunter ties directly into the original series, and looks to use her guitar quite a bit while kicking around the thugs that the game throws at her.
Cherry Hunter is the daughter of Adam Hunter from the original Streets of Rage.
Trained by her father and Axel, Cherry learned self-defense from a young age. Her interest in following in her father’s footsteps and becoming a cop soon faded out, replaced by her love of music. Nowadays, she plays with her electro progressive rock band in some of the most dangerous places in Wood Oak City. She may look young but make no mistake – she is a seasoned veteran of kicking ass and taking names.
