NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 arrives today

NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 looks to bring back the glory days of arcade basketball. Recently acquired for publication by 2K Games, the sequel is on everything as of today.

Time to ball

I’ve never played the original game, but I have to admit I’ve meant to since it was released. I’m a pretty big fan of the classic NBA JAM formula, and Playgrounds looks like a fun, updated spin on that. The game sounds like it might appeal to fans both old and new too, with a monster roster of stars.

A total of 300 players are available at launch, with another 180 on the way. And yes, those are legends in addition to the current guys playing in the league. Additionally, there are signature moves you can pull off, and tons of options for player customization. Those include “items like jackets, shirts, pants, shorts and shoes.” So it sounds like you’re not bound by NBA regs when it comes to your duds.

As for gameplay options, NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 will offer “four-player online matches, co-op matches against AI, enhanced matchmaking with dedicated servers, three-point contests, off-the-wall power-ups, custom matches and more!”
