Nintendo updates Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with Breath of the Wild content

Link is returning to the karting circuit in a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe update for the Switch. The free download is available right now.

Freebie

What’s better than free Zelda content? Not too much, and it’s even better when that same content is for Mario Kart. Not that this is virgin territory, since Link and his favorite bike also popped up in Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U a few years back. Still, it’s still pretty cool.

Personally, I’d love to see a “Mario Kart”-like title from Nintendo with even more series’ crossovers. Maybe something bringing the vast selection of Nintendo’s franchises together in a Smash Bros. type of “event game”. I can’t imagine that there aren’t a ton of Nintendo fans who wouldn’t pick that up, day one.

I guess it’s got to start somewhere though, right? This week, Nintendo updated it’s premier kart racer for the Switch with a little more crossover content, that includes Link and some custom parts.

The pack, which is free to download, includes:

  • The Master Cycle Zero
  • Champion’s Tunic Link
  • Ancient Tyres
  • The Paraglider

Not too shabby. Again too, the pack is available right now, so if you have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Switch, feel free to go grab a download of it.
