I can’t really espouse on the merits of this particular series. That’s mainly because I’m not a fan. Honestly, the famed difficulty makes me shy away from it. Since I actually like to beat the games that I play and I don’t have a ton of time to (as they say) “get gud”, I’ve skipped every incarnation.
Be that as it may though, I can still appreciate aesthetic. And in that realm, the Souls titles win with style in spades. The game’s dark gothic look is a stunner, and that’s tough for any gamer to ignore, fan or not. Apparently too, it’s something that publisher Udon can appreciate as well.
The company has already dug into the series twice, and will be producing a Design Works book about the latest game in the series, Dark Souls III.
DARK SOULS III: DESIGN WORKS collects the gritty and hair-raising artwork behind the critically-acclaimed game in a prestigious hardcover book. This epic 336-page tome is UDON’s biggest Dark Souls art book yet, featuring armor and weapon designs, character concepts, enemies, bosses, environments, DLC artwork, and more.
DARK SOULS III: DESIGN WORKS arrives in stores everywhere August 2018. The new title joins two previous art books in UDON’s DARK SOULS: DESIGN WORKSseries.
