While the next Dragon Age video game might be a ways off, Dark Horse Comics s set to bring some fresh adventures to fans via their new Dragon Age: Hard in Hightown book.
Hard knock life
Revisit the streets of Kirkwall in this unabridged edition of prolific dwarven author Varric Tethras’ Hard in Hightown.
This in-world novel follows the adventures of Donnen Brennokovic, a weathered and weary city guardsman who finds himself paired with a fresh-faced recruit. While on a routine patrol, the unlikely duo stumbles across the body of a murdered magistrate, and soon find themselves embroiled in a clash between Chantry agents and a shadowy organization known as the Executors, over a mysterious ancient artifact.
What unfolds is a fast-paced crime noir full of adventure, passion, and Varric’s signature panache to keep readers hooked.
Sounds like one that fans won’t want to miss out on. The book will come from Mary Kirby, who you might know well. She wrote the character of Varric in both Dragon Age II and Dragon Age: Inquisition. So, you know, she knows her way around a dwarf.
As with writing, the art should be on point too. The book is iillustrated by Stefano Martino, Álvaro Sarraseca, Andres Ponce, and German Ponce. Nice team right there. And the whole thing will be wrapped up in a painted cover by E.M. Gist.
A 96 page hardcover tome, Dragon Age: Hard in Hightown hits retail on July 31. It’ll run you $19.99 USD.
