Hope you’re digging Street Fighter V, cause there’s a god chance that it’ll be Capcom’s flagship fighter for a good long time.
Fists will fly at this location
Well, how much do you like Street Fighter V? If you’re a huge SF fan, then chances are you fall into the ‘love it or hate it’ camp. I’m a fan myself and I like it a lot. I have a buddy though, who’s probably an even bigger fan than I am, and he’s on the other side of that fence.
So with that in mind, you’re either going to be happy or… not… with this news.
According to website MCV, who sites producers Yoshinori Ono and Tomoaki Ayano in an interview they gave recently, the game will be supported till “2020 or so”. Interesting notes from the interview also include an aside that Capcom apparently is pretty big on SFV being a fixture on the eSports circuit. So much so actually, that it sounds like they’re delaying any future Street Fighter game till that happens.
According to Ono himself “I’d be happy if we could [do other titles than Street Fighter]. But first, we’d have to solidify Street Fighter V as an eSports title.” Sounds pretty definitive.
The good news for fans there of course, is that with that relatively far-future date rolling around, it seems that there might be many more updates coming to SFV. And if that’s the case, then there’s always a chance that an actual arcade mode might make it in there at some point.
I’m sure that’d make no shortage of fans smile.
