Here’s one for the Mega Man fans out there. While it’s not a new title, this collection of the original six NES games from the classic platforming series should scratch that nostalgic itch at the very least.
Yes, I know what you’re thinking ‘why couldn’t it be all 10 Mega Man games?!’. And the answer to that is… I don’t know. Maybe they just really wanted to preserve the whole ‘NES’ thing? Or maybe it had something to with the different look that 7 and 8 had? Either way, this collection will feature the six original Mega Man titles, as they first appeared on the classic Nintendo console, but with a little something extra in the way of some as yet undefined ‘HD flair’.
In addition, the collection will come packing a new Challenge Mode (as if the games themselves weren’t challenging enough?) and a Museum Collection, which will feature in some artwork and classic assets from the series’ long history. There will be no retail release for the set though, so you’ll have to grab this one the digital way, when it hits the PS4, Xbox One, and PC some time this Summer. A 3DS release is also in the works, which will arrive this Winter.
You’ll note the conspicuous absence of a Wii U release for the Collection. There’s been no word from Capcom on just why that might be (as you can imagine), but I’d probably assume that it has something to do with the fact that all six of these games are already available via the Wii U’s Virtual Console.
Now… cross your fingers for an actual new one at some point here.
