No, it’s not much, but it’s Doom- so yes, it’s alright to get excited now.
And that’s literally it. Even though there wasn’t much to see in the tease, we did get a surprisingly good look at a Cyber-Demon as well as a few story-points that make things sound like a possible reboot of the franchise. That would make good sense since the narrative has changed hands in more ways than one and it has been sometime since Doom 3 restarted things a few years ago. Making a clean cut and getting the Doom saga started over from the beginning, and hopefully in the same mold as the recently released (and excellent) Wolfenstein game, sounds like a winning proposition for both publisher Bethesda and fans of the franchise who are looking to Doom to have the same genre redefining impact that it gad when it launched in the 90’s.
More of the game will be shown off at QuakeCon, which is coming up in July. We’ll get more info and maybe more footage if we’re lucky.
