I fell in to a burning ring of fire… produced by a flame demon that’s possessing me.
Obviously, the main focus in that trailer was the undead scourge that threatens the world of Vertiel (how awesome was that giant golum by the way?). There’s just something about seeing zombies and skeletons in a fantasy setting that makes them all that much cooler. Don’t get me wrong, I like stuff like Dead Rising too, it’s just that the classic D&D-esque setting is so much more fitting for shambling hordes rampaging across the countryside.
In any event, developer Spiders Studio is promising a lot with this one. Not only will Bound by Flame be the biggest and most ambitious title that they’ve produced, but the developer is also promising that it’ll have a “vast bestiary” with unique behavior for every enemy and “tactically deep and spectacular” combat.
Also, don’t forget that there’s a demon lurking inside of your player-character. You can let that bad boy out any time you like to use its powers against your enemies, living or dead. As you might have guessed though, there’s a fair bit of choice that goes into that unleashing as it’s effectively giving in to your dark side since you can also choose to eschew the dark arts and forge forward into the game’s world as a warrior who’s relatively free of the influence of the demonic.
Bound by Flame sounds like some really cool stuff with plenty to keep action/RPG fans busy; you can expect to see it arrive for the PS3/4, Xbox 360 and PC in the first quarter of 2014.
