More details surface for Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze

With VGX all over, fans are no doubt itching for more Donkey Kong after Cranky’s reveal. Gameinformer has you covered with the latest details on Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze

All manner of wildlife will be seen in the new Donkey Kong title, from walruses, to owls, rabits, sea lions, and penguins. The special attack known as “kong pow” eliminates all enemies on screen, with Dixie’s turning them all into golden hearts. Dixie’s pony-tail, which is normally used for flight, can also be used underwater to increase her speed. As stages progress, enemies will get stronger and stronger as they will steel themselves with several forms of armor. There will be 6 worlds, and each world will have 6 to 7 levels, including a boss and bonus stage. The names of each world are confirmed, the first being Long Magroves, which is a rainforest.

The second level is known as Autumn Heights, which has an interesting blend of cliffsides, dark and cloudy weather, hot air baloons, mine carts, and giant owls. The third world, Bright Savannah, will look much like environments in Africa. Features such as tall grass and brush fires will appear. The fourth world is Sea Breeze Cove, and is much like the second world in Donkey Kong Country Returns, with sandy beaches, harbors and other nautical environments. The main difference is that there will actually be levels where you will swim in the water. World 5 is called Juicy Jungle, which is, you guessed it, a tropical rainforest. Finally, there’s world 6, Donkey Kong Island; this stage will feature Donkey Kong’s home, only frozen over thanks to the vikings’ handy-work.

Like Donkey Kong Country Returns, Donkey Kong will be controlled at all times in single player, while characters such as Diddy Kong will be there to aid him. You can switch side characters via barrels that you come across. The game will apparently be quite challenging, so hardcore gamers out there will be in for a treat.
