Avengers World #1 (Comics) Preview

Earth becomes an Avengers World in January, but everybody’s not exactly thrilled with that.

Following the events of INFINITY, our heroes have returned from the stars to find a very different Earth. New threats have emerged on the world they left behind, and new measures have risen up to deal with them. Earth has been marked an “Avengers World”, safely under the protection of Earth’s Mightiest.

But how will the nations and governments of the world respond to their claim – and what happens when it’s denied?

Marvel is saying that Avengers World is going to be chock full of ’empires and armies’, which is definitely something different for a title that bears the name of the Marvel U’s foremost superhero team. It also implies that the Avengers might be getting mixed up in global affairs more than fans might be used to which would also be a big change.

Not to say that the team hasn’t always been a ‘global’ superhero squad, but not to the level that Avengers World is implying. If nothing else, it should be very interesting indeed to see how this one plays out. More often than not, groups of super-humans attempting to exert control over the Earth in general doesn’t really work out as intended.
