1979 goes back to Iran in the ’70s by way of Kickstarter

A game about the Iranian revolution in 1979 created by a man who lived it has just hit Kickstarter.

1979 Revolution looks like one of those games that takes you by surprise and hits the mark big. From a gamer’s perspective, it’s not what you usually expect. There are no spies to play as, no armed revolutionaries- only a few peaceful protesters during a time of violence and uprising. It’s fascinating that creator Navid Khonsari was able to not only conceptualize his idea, but also follow through and actually get a game built to surround it.

Khonsari has quite the background in the industry though, so if anyone could do it, it’d be him. I’m really interested in seeing where this goes as it could be a new era in games and might mean that games that games that actually fit the term ‘drama’ might just start to see the light of day. That’d be different for sure- and a welcome change for the industry; a little more grown up, if you like.
