Two more classic X-Men characters join the roster for Activision’s Deadpool

If you were an Uncanny X-Men fan in the ’90s, then the names Psylocke and Mister Sinister should ring pretty familiar to you.

Both characters have been around longer than that in the Marvel Universe mind you, but I always thought the ’90s takes on both were rather iconic. Apparently developer High Moon Studios feels the same way as both characters will not only be in the upcoming Deadpool game, but sport looks pretty darned similar to the ones they wore in the die-cut, polybagged (occasionally glow-in-the-dark) days of 1990’s comics.

Even though I’m a big comics guy in general (and a pretty big X-Men fan), I wasn’t overly jazzed about a dedicated Deadpool game. High Moon Studios does some awesome work as anyone who’s played the Transformers ‘Cybertron’ games can tell you, but Deadpool starring in a game all by himself just seemed like it wasn’t the greatest of ideas. From what I know of him, he’s kind of a one trick pony and mainly a comedic character

That said, almost everything I’ve seen since the game’s announcement at SDCC ’12 has me warming to the idea in a big way. The graphics are looking good, the way that Deadpool is written looks to actually be funny (always important) and it seems like there’s going to be a healthy dose of the classic X-universe in Deadpool with all the big name guest stars- a fact that’s music to this fan’s ears.

Marvel Comics” newest mega-star; Deadpool comes to the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in all his glory on June 25th.
