Nintendo announced today that a fresh batch of content would be arriving soon for Fire Emblem Awakening via SpotPass.
The recently released 3DS RPG may have had some troubles getting out of the gates (it wasn’t overly easy to find a copy at retail when the game launched), but fans should be pretty happy as the game will be getting new content infusions all through Spring. Different than the usual DLC in that it will not be delivered through the game’s Outrealm Gate, the new content will appear through the handheld console’s SpotPass feature- oh, and it’ll also be free.
Arriving today is the Hard Miracle map. The new addition follows main character Chrom as he meets a mystery woman and follows her on a quest to rescue a group of kidnapped villagers. Nintendo promises that the downloadables will be pretty even flowing through the near future with more maps appearing over the next few weeks.
“Ghost of Blade” on March 28, a haunted tale about a ghost and the ultimate sacrifice; “The Wellspring of Trust” on April 11, a map full of challenging enemies; and “The Radiant Hero” on April 25, which takes place on an isolated island as Chrom and his allies search for a legendary hero.
As far as SpotPass goes, Nintendo plans on making more use of it than just maps too. Look for weapons, characters, and Double Duel (multiplayer) challenges to be on the way as well.
