Finish the fight – Hasbro loading up Halo Nerf line

Lock and load… some foam darts. Halo is going to Nerf, thanks to Hasbro. The toy company will be bringing the brand to shelves later this year.

It’s Halo, or it’s nothing

It’s going to be quite a year for Halo fans, with a new game out this Holiday for the new Xbox Series X, a new action figure line, and now Nerf. That last part is a pretty exciting little surprise, even though the form factor isn’t new to the Halo brand.

“Halo consumer products licensees and categories have expanded significantly since the launch of Halo 5: Guardians in 2015,” said John Friend, Head of Consumer Products at 343 Industries. “Halo has grown to become one of the leading sci-fi transmedia and entertainment franchises through the release of our many books, comics, apparel, and so much more. Hasbro is the perfect partner to bring the heroism of the Master Chief to fans of all ages and expand the Halo Universe to a new generation.”

While all of this is cool news, you might be getting a sense of deja vu. It could be because a certain other foam dart company was offering iconic weapons from the video game series (cough*Boom*cough) not that long ago.

Honestly though, Nerf is kind of in a league all by itself when it comes to this stuff. Hasbro’s line of play blasters is usually made well, and tends to look cool. Those are two pretty important things when you’re talking about a license for a brand like Halo.

Ready for launch

You won’t have to wait too long to start blasting away, as Hasbro says that the line will debut in the US and UK later this year.

The initial wave will include:

  • NERF Halo MA40 Blaster
  • NERF Halo SPNKr MicroShot
  • NERF Halo NEEDLER MicroShot

No word on pricing just yet, though Hasbro does add that you can expect an expansion in 2021. So Halo’s Nerf days are just beginning.

“NERF and Halo are both heritage brands that kids have grown up with and loved for decades, and we’ve found a strong overlap within our consumers,” said Adam Kleinman, Vice President of Global Brand Strategy and Marketing, Hasbro. “We are constantly looking into ways to bring more innovation and excitement to the NERF brand, and saw an incredible opportunity to collaborate with 343 Industries as they reinvent Halo for the next generation.”
