Capcom and iam8bit ready pair of retro cartridges for Mega Man anniversaries

Did you know it’s Mega Man’s 30th anniversary? Well, it is, and iam8bt is working with publisher Capcom on a pair of special, retro carts to celebrate. If you’re a big fan, or lover of all things 80s/90s, you’re going to want to check these out.

Mega classics

There are few 8/16bit series’ as well regarded as Mega Man. Sure the set of platforming action games has somewhat fallen on hard times since then, but man was it the bees knees in that golden age of video gaming. It’s actually on the way to a possible comeback as well, with a fresh game incoming this year in Mega Man 11.

That’s some good timing too, since Mega Man is a robust 30 years old this year. Thankfully, Capcom has taken note of that high-water mark, and is working with iam8bit to produce some pretty special memorabilia.

Oddly enough, there’s not a special edition of the original game planned, but we are getting collector’s editions of both Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X. to be fair though, those are widely considered to be two of the very best games in the franchise.

But let’s move onto what’s so special about these editions, ’cause quite frankly there’s a ton, and these carts are flat-out gorgeous.

Mega Man 2 – 30th Anniversary Classic Cartridge – $100

Pretty slick, huh? Both games are pre-orderable right now via iam8bit.com. There’s no way to select which color you get, so keep that in mind, as iam8bit wants there to be a surprise. Also, these are pretty far from cheap, as each one will run you $100 USD. Still, that’s not terrible, especially considering how neat these are, and the limited nature.

Both are set to ship out this comic September.
