Prey has one thing in common with the previous title of the same name – it looks like it’s going to be fantastic.
Hunter and Prey
Feels kind of like a cross between BioShock and Dishonored, no? And I don’t mean that as a slight, ’cause this looks all kinds of awesome. From what developer Arkane Studios is saying, it sounds that way too.
The world in Prey has an open-ended design. You might think that that would mean that scripted events will be rare, but it doesn’t sound like it at all. The company adds that the game features “a carefully crafted world”, which certainly makes it sound like narrative elements will be everywhere. They also reinforce though, that you can expect to be set “free to play as you want”.
So, the best of both worlds then? That’s tough to pull off, but from the looks of it, Prey might be on track to do just that. And that sounds like something that Dishonored fans in particular will eat up.
I have to admit that I was more than a little disappointed that we weren’t getting a true sequel to the last-gen original at first. “At first”. The more I see of this new Prey, the more sold I am. Next year can’t come fast enough.
