Styx, the goblin thief not the rock band, gets to stealing in this massive 15 minute look at the gameplay of Styx: Master of Shadows.
The voices you heard there were some of the developers from Cyanide Studios and the entire sequence was continuous, so no editing and pure gameplay. One thing that you have to like about Styx right off the bat is that this is pure stealth gameplay.
You simply cannot defeat all of the human and elven soldiers guarding the tower and its content and you have to proceed lightly, turning down lights and staying close to the shadows. This is in stark contrast to the gameplay found in games that tout ‘stealth’ like Metal Gear and Splinter Cell. Not that those series’ aren’t fantastic in their own rights, but in those games you can take the fight to the opposition when necessary, in Styx even killing has to be done quietly and when guards are separated form the herd, so to speak. Cool, cool stuff.
If you’re intregued by this diminutive master of all things ‘theft’, then stay tuned. There’s no release date as of yet, but Styx: Master of Shadows will eventually be making his way onto the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
