The newest charging case to hit the market for the iPhone 5 series of phones from Apple, Prong’s PWR Case charges up your phone and goes wire-free while doing it.
Powered-cases are nothing new in the world of smartphones, with several on the market already. None have the interesting feature that the Prong PWR Case boasts though. Not only does the PWR Case just plug into any outlet directly and without a charge and sync cable (though you can use a cable as well if you like) as you’re probably used to, but you can actually detach the outer ‘charging’ portion of the case and still have your phone safely ensconced inside the inner bumper.
So when you’re charging your case, you don’t have to have your phone unprotected. Pretty cool. With mobile gaming getting more and more the norm and phones grabbing massive amounts of power for higher end applications and constantly running ‘background’ apps, these kinds of cases are beginning to be almost a necessity for anyone who wants their phone to make it through a whole day out and about without needing a charge.
Personally, I’ve had my iPhone 5 die many times on me before it would have been convenient to charge it up and the PWR Case seems like a terrific little solution to that issue. Packing a 1500 mAh battery, the PWR Case will be offered in black, white, blue-grey, and white-pink and should be on the shelves by Summertime at Best Buy stores.
You can expect to see the PWR Case priced at $79.99 USD when it launches, but you can snag a special pre-order discount right now if you order here, and get one for only $65.00 USD.
