Celebrate 20 years of Beyond Good & Evil with new Anniversary Edition

With a long-awaited (and we mean long) sequel still in the offing, Beyond Good & Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition is here.

It’s also beyond the concept of time apparently

Originally released in 2003 for the PS2, Beyond Good & Evil has become a beloved classic. The game put players in the shoes of a reporter (among other things) named Jade, who was out to reveal an alien conspiracy in her gritty, sci-fi world.

While that original adventure would eventually make its way to other platforms, an announced sequel would somehow not make its way anywhere. Even though it’s been pined over for years by fans, Ubisoft seems to have it in a permanent state of suspended animation. Well, if you’ve been begging for that sequel, we can’t offer anything new today, though there is news about the property.

Namely, it’s that Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition has hit release. The new release brings the famed title to modern platforms, and brings an overhaul of the visuals and the audio. Own the latter, fans can look for “15 iconic tracks” of music to have a full re-recording from a full orchestra under the direction of original composer Christophe Héral.

As for the visuals, while Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition isn’t a remake, it does offer some modern bumps with performance up to “4K, 60 FPS”. All of that is in addition to “an Anniversary Gallery, a Speedrun Mode to challenge players, 20+ new achievements and a new treasure hunt”, so there’s a fair shake of new content too.

Beyond Good & Evil – 20th Anniversary Edition is out right now for Xbox and PlayStation platforms, as well as the PC, Switch, and Amazon’s Luna. Additionally, those 15 tracks we mentioned above can be pre-ordered as a “special double-vinyl” edition set as of today, by way of European retailer Wayô Records.
