Those who might be a little apprehensive about the latest Prince of Persia reboot will have a chance to try it before they buy it.
Like sands in the hourglass
Yes Ubisoft is right on the edge of starting Prince of Persia over yet again. The long-toothed franchise originally launched way back in 1989, before seeing two reboots with a 2008 release and of course the Sands of Time trilogy before that. Now the publisher is planning on releasing Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown next month, and to entice prospective players there’s also going to be a demo.
That will be a free download of course, and will give a playable glimpse of the game, which is taking the property into Metroidvania territory.
Inspired by the Metroidvania genre, Prince of Persia™: The Lost Crown lets players explore a handcrafted world at their own pace. From the majestic Citadel of Knowledge to the colorful landscapes of the Hyrcanian Forest, players will discover a variety of environments inspired by Persian mythology. By acquiring new time powers, unlocking unique abilities and combining them in combat, Sargon will progressively delve deeper into Mount Qaf, solving puzzles, finding secrets, and completing exciting side quests.

The demo for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will arrive on January 11th, 2024, and you’ll be able to download and play via PlayStation and Xbox platforms, as well as the Switch and the PC (via Epic and Ubisoft). As for the full game, that’s landing next month as well, on January 18th.
