Men of War II’s final beta weekend is live now on PC

It’s your last chance to get in on the beta test for Fulqrum and Best Way’s WWII RTS revival Men of War II, before the game hits full retail.

War is… real-time

Due to land on the PC in its final form next month, Men of War II is engaging in a third round of beta testing as you read this. The World War II, real-time strategy title is focusing on the “Classic” setup this time around, which mimics the original MoW multiplayer.

With that, players can select which nation they want to play as, and then have access to all of that country’s units. It’s a difference from what the sequel will offer as its standard multiplay option, which includes some deeper options and strategy.

This open beta gives fans the chance to experience Men of War II’s highly-requested ‘Classic’ setup for matches through the custom lobby, taking players back to the multiplayer experience of previous Men of War games. By selecting which nation they’d like to play as, players will immediately have access to all that nation’s units in each match. There are no battalions and echelons, with the player calling in their forces based on a combination of their manpower resource and control points, combined with timers.

In addition to the above, beta number three also delivers the Realism Setting for fans to play with. That changes gameplay considerably, with “fewer visual cues” as to unit health and visibility on the battlefield, plus “a more limited range of fire for weapons”, and much more.

On the whole, this last round of testing takes into account feedback from players of the previous ones, not that developer Best Way is done. The company is definitely close though, as Men of War II is set to launch into full retail on September 20th, 2023.

If you’d like to get in on the beta, and you still can, it’s running right now via Steam, and will be open til Monday, August 14th at 1pm eastern time.
