Zombie fans are rocking and rolling with Deep Silver and developer Dambuster’s Dead Island sequel, to the tune of a million players.
That’s a lotta zombies
Yes, there are a lot of zombies in Los Angeles. Ah-ah-ah, hold the jokes, because we’re not kidding. Of course, we’re not talking about the real world either, as this story refers to none other than Dead Island 2.
The undead-slaying sequel, which finally arrived last week after years in development hell, has caught on in a very big way with fans. And to prove it, we’ve got some gaudy numbers to share with you.
For one thing, and perhaps this is the biggest of the digits, Dead Island 2 sold over a million units during the weekend. Again though, there’s more, as the players who dove into DI2… well, they really dove into DI2.
How’s this look:
- Over 1 million copies of Dead Island 2 sold during its first weekend
- 11 million total hours played
- 28 million player deaths (over twice the population of Los Angeles)
- 45 million zombies sliced in half
- 756 million zombie limbs hacked off
- 1.1 billion total number of zombies slayed
Not bad for three days of sales, huh? Have you gotten into what’s one of the best-looking zombie epics in recent years? If you haven’t, it’s obviously out right now for everything except the Switch.
You can grab a copy via Xbox and PlayStation platforms, and the PC via Epic.
