Spinning out of Marvel’s Darth Vader book comes Doctor Aphra and her shockingly evil droid buddies.
The doctor is in
An original character, Doctor Aphra is something of a landmark in the new Star Wars expanded Universe. She’s wholly original, in the sense that she debuted in a Marvel comic, and was never in the films. And now that she’s got her own ongoing series, it certainly opens the door for a few things.
First, I’m thinking that the chances of seeing lesser known Star Wars characters appear in limited series’ might be pretty good at this point. Up till now, we’ve really only seen major players like Vader, Leia, and Han Solo star in spotlighted books. Aphra is something of a departure since she was supporting in Darth Vader’s comic. Actually, since this is an ongoing, maybe change that “limited series” tag I mentioned. Anything goes apparently.
Also kind of cool is that she’s not a familiar character. That might mean that we could get a wider selection of characters starring in their own comics, which’d certainly give us a bigger Star Wars comics universe.
That’s all ‘maybe’ stuff though. This is very much a reality. And Doc Aphra sounds like a very good time indeed.
