Helldivers II announced for Xbox, dispenses democracy this August

Suit up Xbox fans, Sony’s smash hit PlayStation 5 sequel Helldivers II is making its way to Xbox Series X|S next month.

Reinforcements have arrived

It wasn’t long ago that Microsoft revealed a number of its upcoming games would be making their way to the PS5, more or less announcing that almost everything that would normally have been an Xbox exclusive would be going multi-platform. We have to say “almost”, because some of the biggest stuff hasn’t been included in that initiative (yet).

Now today has seen another big announcement, but not from Microsoft. This time the multi-platform news has erupted from Sony, lending ever more credence to the idea that gaming’s future isn’t in exclusives. And yes, that reveal is one that fans have been clamoring after for a while.

As you can see from the headline, we’re talking about the smash hit PS5 (and PC) game Helldivers II, which is now coming to Xbox Series X|S. The hugely popular multiplayer action title was confirmed for Xbox via a stream this morning, and will be arriving in no time, emerging from its drop pod in a little under two months, on August 26th.

Time to defend Super Earth on a whole new front.

As of now, there’s no word on cross-progression just yet, which seems to be the biggest question many fans have. We’ll let you know about that as soon as anything is reported, but right now we can fill you in on the pair of pre-orders that are up for Xbox players to buy into.

Both Helldivers II‘s standard and Super Citizen editions are ready to be secured, which you can check out in the X post above.
