PNY gets in on the Switch 2 action, with the new microSD Express

Nintendo fans picking up a Switch 2 next month will have another option for storage, thanks to PNY’s microSD Express card.

Unless you’ve been intentionally avoiding the news as of late, you know all about Nintendo’s Switch 2 console. The poorly-kept sequel console was officially unveiled earlier this year, before going up for pre-order just about a month ago. If you got in on the madness that was that pre-order period, then there are a few options that you’re likely mulling over, and we’re not talking about games.

You may bethinking about grabbing a controller, or a stand, or even a camera, but most fans are likely targeting some expanded storage. Therein arrives a little challenge too, since the Switch 2 won’t use the same solution that you might be using with your gen-one console. The microSD Express is reportedly “4.4 times faster” than standard UHS-I microSD cards, and is available in both 128gb and 256gb sizes. Along with the faster speed, the new cards also include a “unique” heat-dissipation design that should keep them running cooler, and a series of features meant to keep your data from failing. According to PNY, the new offerings are “magnet proof, shock proof, temperature proof, waterproof, drop proof, X-Ray proof, wear-out proof, and even humidity proof”.
