Yes, the new game is still on the way, but Capcom has revealed that Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny is getting a remaster this year.
Dig out that Oni gauntlet
For the first time in ages, it’s actually a good time for Onimusha fans. Though it didn’t always look that way. A few years back, Capcom released Onimusha: Warlords, a remastering of the original sword-slashing, demon-hunting action title. After it dropped though, that was kind of… it.
Well, fast-forward to the present and Capcom is setting up to deliver an actual comeback for the series, with a completely new sequel (Onimusha: Way of the Sword) that’s on track for next year. But while that game is so far sounding great, Capcom isn’t done.
Instead of leaving fans with nothing to play in 2025, the publisher has announced that a remastering of Onimusha 2 is on the way in short order. Capcom was mum on details about Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny at yesterday’s news drop, though we did get a sharp trailer to check out.
And yeah, as far as we’re concerned, it’s looking great.
Before you get too excited, there’s no release date just yet for Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, though Capcom does say it’s coming this year. So at least that’s something. When it does drop, you’ll be able to pick up a copy for the Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam).
While you wait too, the aforementioned Onimusha: Warlords is actually on sale right now for just $9.99 USD, via digital storefronts. So if you skipped the first game’s remaster, it might be a good time to dig in.
