Forgive me Father 2 creeps out of Early Access today

Finally complete and ready for some Lovecraftian action, Forgive Me Father 2 is now sporting new levels, weapons, and foes to take out.

Just in time for Halloween

In Early Access for a while now, Forgive Me Father 2 has crossed the veil in timely form, and has officially emerged for the PC. The first-person shooter sequel builds upon the original, this time focusing on the priest, one of two playable heroes from the original game.

The narrative sends the mentally unstable father on a quest to purge more Endritch beasts from the land, in retro “boomer shooter” style. But don’t expect things to be all straightforward action, as the priest can use his madness to boost his abilities via the Dark Tome. Players can collect pages from that arcane book to grant supernatural powers like Lifesteal, Might, and Haste.

It all adds up to an even darker campaign, that digs deeper into the Lovecraftian themes that developer Byte Barrel has crafted.

Drawing inspiration from various FPS subgenres, including classic boomer shooters like Quake and Doom, combined with modern mechanics, unique visual style, and Unreal Engine 5 technology, Forgive Me Father 2 offers an action-packed retro-meets-cutting-edge love letter to all FPS fans.

Building upon the original with a darker story, players are now entrenched deeper into the mythos, with equipable Dark Tome pages to upgrade their madness skills. Be that healing wounds with Lifesteal, becoming more powerful with Might, boosting fire rate and reload speed with Haste, or reducing incoming damage with Resistance, players can give their mind to the eldritch apparitions to improve their chances of survival.

While Forgive Me Father 2 has seen multiple major updates over its Early Access period, today’s 1.0 launch introduces tons of new content including vast new levels, new weapons, eldritch monstrosities to battle, and much, much more!

There are a number of new additions to the sequel, as it’s fresh from eschewing its Early Access tag. Chief among those are the new levels, which include the Arctic snowscape and Nightmare Land, which is effectively an alien world. There players will find trippy visuals with giant funguses and plenty of beasts to slay. Oh, and low gravity too. That should be fun.

Weapons are also a part of the bag, with ‘The Suspicious Box’ being added in. That’s more or less what it sounds like, and delivers the power to completely clear the space around players of enemies. Now that’ll come in handy in pitched battles.

Last but not least is an expansion to the Dark Tome, this one playing off the old saying, ‘if looks could kill’. Using the page, the priest can damage monsters just by looking at them, with “unbelievable frequency” according to publisher Fulqrum. One caveat to that though, is that the ability will need a clear line of sight to work.

Landing just in time to drop some Halloween chills to fans, Forgive Me Father 2 is out right now, for the PC. Look for it on Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.
