Trailer: “minimalist” dark fantasy has never looked better than Bleak Sword DX

The “definitive” edition of Devolver Digital and more8bit’s throwback, lo-fi action/horror title Bleak Sword is coming to Switch and PC this year.

Whoa

Pure, thrilling and wonderfully cruel, Bleak Sword DX is a dark fantasy action game challenging warriors to fight their way through compact, cursed diorama battlefields. Newly updated for PC & Switch, Bleak Sword DX expands on the critically acclaimed Apple Arcade version with elegant controls, three new game modes, and multiple gameplay and graphical improvements.

Through twelve tense and deeply atmospheric chapters, heroes must lift the curse of the legendary Bleak Sword by striking down all manner of horrifying creatures across an oppressive world wielding fierce weaponry and powerful magic.

Devolver Digital press release

Bleak Sword DX will offer a total of 3 new game modes. The “DX” mode will serve up the original game, plus 3 new chapters (originally DLC), but will have totally new enemy and level layouts. On top of that, there will also be a “Randomizer”, that’ll totally remix the original, and Boss Rush. Kind of obvious what that one is.

Players can also expect new “graphical enhancements” and updated gameplay when the title lands some time this year.
