There’s a brand new Optimus Prime robot coming from Robosen

Robosen is back with another Optimus Prime for Transformers fans. Dubbed “Elite”, this new Prime is smaller, but no less impressive.

Roll out!

Remember Robosen’s incredible self-transforming Optimus Prime from a while back? If you don’t, then you likely never saw it in action, because for Transformers fans that piece was as close to a real Cybertronian as you can get today.

Prime could transform on command, as well as move, drive, and talk. The greatest Transformers figure ever? Yeah, kinda seemed like it, and of course was priced like it too. Called “Flagship Optimus Prime”, since he’s the first in the line, this bad boy is still available for order via Robosen’s web-shop, and is priced in at $1199.99 USD. Yeah, that’s a lotta energon. But now there’s another option, if you’re dying to add one of these Primes to your own Transformers collection.

Just announced is Robosen’s Elite Optimus Prime, a smaller and much less expensive edition. Elite Prime doesn’t seem to be less featured though, as he’s packing some serious tech.

Before you ask, yes that’s actor Peter Cullen reprising his iconic role as Prime for the voice-work. It kind of wouldn’t be the Autobot leader if he didn’t… sound like the Autobot leader, not would it?

Elite Optimus Prime comes complete with a “premium foam protective travel case, the Engergon Axe with swivel back grip, the Ion Blaster with integrated light and switch (built-in battery included on the Blaster), a charging adapter and two built-in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries (1200mAh)”. Also worth noting, is that the transformation is reportedly smoother and this version will be quicker overall, and more agile due to his smaller scale.

“We are excited to bring this lighter, more compact Optimus Prime to fans of the franchise,” said Sean Tang, Director of Robosen USA. “The re-engineered scale offers a smooth, fast conversion, making the Elite Optimus Prime more agile and speedy, which we’re thrilled to once again bring to life for all our fans and customers, through our collaboration with Hasbro.”

So where can you get one? Well, he’s actually available right now, also via Robosen’s online store. He sports a significant drop in price too, coming in at a nonetheless still chunky $699.99 USD.
