Yes, you read that right, there’s no error in that headline. Amazing Spider-Man #75 will kick off a new creative team for the book, and a new hero.
Well, that is kind of amazing
He’s back. Ben Reilly, if you don’t know, is the clone of Spider-Man that first appeared back in the 90s’ Clone Saga. And now he is returning to the role of the webbed hero,. Maybe. This time around too, he’s backed by something called the Beyond Corporation, and has a new mission. Namely, he is looking to ‘fix’ the things that the real Spidey couldn’t.
So does that mean that he’s replacing Peter Parker’s Spider-Man, or existing alongside him? Honestly, it isn’t overly clear. What is clear though is that Marvel has a whole lotta Spidey planned for the fall. And I mean that, as in Amazing is going thrice-monthly with October’s issue #75. As you might expect, that also means it’s loaded up in terms of talent.
Kelly Thompson, Saladin Ahmed, Cody Ziglar, Patrick Gleason, and Zeb Wells will all be teaming to bring the book home with that stiff schedule. Although fans won’t have to wait till it returns this fall to see what’s in store.
August 14th’s Free Comic Book Day will see a taste of the future arrive in stores. Marvel’s free issue, Free Comic Book Day 2021: Spider-Man/Venom, will include a tease of what the publisher says will be “one of the most unpredictable runs in Spider-Man history”. Buckle up.
