Oswald returns to King of Fighters as KoF XIV’s latest dlc combatant

Fan favorite King of Fighters character Oswald is back. No, he might not have the most exciting name ever, but he’s packing a deck of cards that make him one of the more interesting additions to the SNK fighter.

Pick a card

Oswald is an old and very composed gentleman, and a former hitman very well-known in the underworld society. He has mastered the Karnoffel assassination art, and uses playing cards to slice and dice his opponents. As a veteran poker player, he never shows his hand.

I have no idea who this is, but he actually is kind of interesting. It seems like there are some shades of other fighting game characters in there too, and I’m digging it. Apparently, Oswald here is a fan favorite as well, so players should be happy he’s back in the KoF fold. Though, he won’t be the last added combatant.

SNK says that Oswald is the first of four new fighters for the game, which will kick off a fresh season in April. You might be scratching your head right now at that statement, wondering how long King of Fighters XIV has been out. Let me help- it released in August of 2016. And yes that means that it’s still getting new content almost two years post-launch.

Remember though, that the game has had a pretty major refresher as of last summer. So it’s almost like a revised version at this point. Like an “ultimate” or “arcade” version, if you will. So it kind of makes sense that SNK would be looking to expand on it.

Oswald is the first part of those plans, and after he arrives this April, I assume we’ll be looking at reveals from the company on those other three characters. Stay tuned.
