It won’t be in ‘VR’, but the PSVR headset does indeed look like it works with anything that has HDMI output. And that includes the Xbox One.
VR everything
So here’s a nice little surprise for you: You can use your shiny new PSVR headset with your Xbox One, PC, and a possible myriad of other things. How is this possible? Well it’s all thanks to the fact that it works with anything that can connect to it via HDMI in a kind of cinema mode.
Basically, you won’t get full VR, so don’t expect that. What you will get is a kind of private movie screen. Reportedly, the screen hangs in otherwise darkness, and plays whatever you might have feeding into the headset. The only downer here is that there’s no stereo sound from the PSVR itself, it plays out of the TV instead. Still though, as a bonus feature this is pretty awesome.
Basically, the PSVR can become a private gaming ‘booth’ for whatever you like. And, presumably, if you have a headphone jack on your controller -say, an Xbox One controller- you could get private sound as well. Pretty sharp.
I certainly wouldn’t go out and buy one just for this feature, since they’re a wee bit expensive, but if you’re getting one already this is pretty cool.
