The art of horror, Layers of Fear arrives next month

Horror has rarely been described as art really, but that might change when Bloober Team’s Layers of Fear hits for consoles and the PC next month.

We previewed Layers of Fear just before Halloween last year, and were knocked over by it’s haunting and tragic themes. Our own Jake (resident horror expert) actually compared it to P.T., the much-loved demo for Silent Hills, a game that will no never see the light of day. To put it mildly, that’s high praise.

If you’ve yet to play Layers of Fear, it’s getting raves with its Steam Early Access release, and is now officially heading to the Xbox One, PS4, and the PC on February 16th. The developers at Boober Team have partnered with Aspyr Media, which is out of Austin, Texas for the launch of the game. As you might imagine, all parties are looking forward to getting this one into gamers’ hands.

“As soon as we got our hands on the game via Steam Early Access and saw the ravenous community feedback, we wanted to be a part of sharing this game with the world,” said Aspyr Media’s vice president of publishing, Elizabeth Howard. “Many game developers pour their blood, sweat and tears into creating great games, but the folks at Bloober Team brought a new meaning to this term while creating Layers of Fear. It’s truly been a blast working with a group so dedicated to the craft of beautifully scaring the sh!t out of people, and adding in our own flavor of insanity.”

“We can’t wait to finally show the world the full scope of our masterpiece of fear,” said Piotr Babieno, chief executive officer at Bloober Team. “And we’re glad that there are other people who share our enthusiasm. Working with Aspyr is pure pleasure! They immediately got what we were trying to achieve with ‘Layers of Fear’ and happily dived into our world of madness.”
