You’ll be able to get online for some infiltrating and mech piloting in Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain.
Not to shabby right there. Konami is putting a heavier emphasis on online play this time around, not for the campaign of The Phantom Pain mind you, but for the new Metal Gear Online mode. The online play, which is really a whole different game, will be included in the package when you pick up a copy of the newest Metal Gear Solid title, which is pretty nice.
The third evolution for the online portion of MGS, the new mode will have a focus on Tactical Team Operations and will figure in a class system for specialized team play. And as you can see from the trailer, you’ll be able to play as some of the game’s stars in multiplayer as well, like Revolver Ocelot and Venom Snake (which is what Big Boss/Snake goes by now). All in all, it’s a pretty awesome little freebie, and one that should expand the amount of time that you’ll want to spend in Metal Gear’s universe past the campaign that The Phantom Pain offers.
Konami promises that they’ll be gong more in-depth as to what the features of Metal Gear Online will be as we get closer to launch, which is set to be this coming March for the Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
