Dark Horse founder Mike Richardson want to give you $1,000

President and founder of the label, Richardson is also a pretty well known writer having penned such classics as 47 Ronin (the comic) and Star Wars: Crimson Empire. Now he wants to give readers a cool grand and gift comic shops with gratis books.

The contest centers on Richardson’s newest book, Atomic Legion. An ode to the classic comics of the golden age, Atomic Legion hit print this past week from Richardson and artist Bruce Zick and is loaded with references and nods to the characters and stories of the most famous time period in comicdom.

And that’s where the challenge here lies. Readers must sift through every page, every panel, and every thought bubble and heroic monolog to pull out each one of those magical sci-fi and pop culture references. The reader who grabs the most, writes them down in list form, and emails them (along with a picture of themselves with a copy of the book) to [email protected], will win $1,000 USD for themselves and $1,000 worth of Dark Horse comics and graphic novels for their favorite comic shop.

Something for yourself and something for your favorite shop- what’s better than that? Enter soon though, as the contest is good only in May and will end on the 31st of this month.
