If you’re not familiar with Life Goes On, it would probably have made a pretty terrific Monty Python skit.
As you might have been able to tell from the launch trailer above, your one goal in Life Goes On is to make it to the end of each level by any means necessary. In the game, your fellow knights are just means to an end and can be frozen, skewered, flattened, electrocuted, and really anything else you might be able to think of in order to make the route to the goal easier to traverse. Grusome? Yes, but it looks like it might be a heap of fun too.
Set across 52 levels loaded up with puzzles of the morbid variety, Life Goes On’s stream of knights is endless. Though you’ll never run out of fodder, keeping deaths low and solving puzzles using as few of your countrymen as possible is key.
There’s actually a really nice story behind this one too as developer Infinite Monkeys Entertainment had originally cooked up the title as part of the 2012 Global Game Jam. There the game won the Intel Level Up award for Best Character Design and has become the first retail release for the indie dev. So while Life Goes On might not have the happiest of endings for the throngs of knights that you’ll be sending to their doom as you play, the tale behind its launch certainly does.
