The Wii U’s Miiverse and the Nintendo Network ID (for the eShop) is now accessible on the Nintendo 3DS with an update that went live yesterday.
Nintendo gamers have been looking for a cross-console ID for a while now, so for that alone this update is a pretty big deal. Basically, your Nintendo Network identification now (with this update) exists as one cohesive system on both the Wii U and the 3DS. Yes, it seems like this probably should have been something that was around from the start, but hey- better late than never right?
Also included in the update is the Miiverse, which allows gamers to interact and connect with other players across the globe. If you’ve used the Wii U’s version of Miiverse, you know what to expect from the 3DS edition, sort of. The 3DS’ Miiverse actually has something that the Wii U’s doesn’t- an offline mode.
If you find yourself without access to wi-fi, you can create up to three posts for Miiverse which will be loaded into a queue. As soon as your 3DS connects to a wi-fi source, those posts will be uploaded into Miiverse for all to see. You’ll also be able to then interact with other Miiverse users and otherwise take advantage of the Nintendo social network’s capabilities.
Ready to get social? Boot up your 3DS and update your console right now.
