Techland’s medieval first-person slash-a-thon has officially been nudged into next year.
Originally scheduled to be available this Autumn/Holiday season, the game will now see release some time in 2014. Why the delay? Producer Marcin Kruczkiewicz explains:
“Since we started developing Hellraid we have had a clear goal to create a game that we all would love to play. We wanted to pay tribute to the best aspects of classic titles we grew up on and enhance them with new ideas, modern technology and extensive co-op that would provide players with dozens or even hundreds of hours of pure and bloody fun,” writes game producer Marcin Kruczkiewicz in an update on the Hellraid official blog at hellraid.com.
“If we released our game this year we would have to make too many compromises and the final product probably wouldn’t meet all our promises and players’ expectations.”
Kruczkiewicz then went on to talk about the play-testing experiences that advanced audiences have had with the game and how the developer wants to address issues that gamer’s have had head on. That, unfortunately, will take way too much time to get the game out the door before 2013 closes up shop.
We’ve been following Hellraid for a while here on Brutal Gamer and the game is looking seriously sharp. Yes, much like Techland’s Dead Island franchise for Deep Silver, there are zombies and the undead roaming the halls of Hellraid- but the similarity ends there as the game looks to have some excellently creepy atmosphere thanks to its medieval setting. Personally, I can’t wait to have a better look at it- it’s kind of reminding me of Hexen/Heretic and that’s a very good thing indeed.
Look for Hellraid to storm the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC when it finally arrives in 2014.
